Belgian companies not enough protected against cyber-attacks

Datum: 31. May, 2017

More and more cyber-attacks occur every day, the latest ransomware WannaCryptor infected more than 230.000 computers all over the world. However Belgian businesses are not aware of the dangers, even though there are simple ways to keep their data safe and to avoid the loss of important and confidential files.

According to Professor Georges Ataya from Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management many Belgian organisations do not take the necessary steps to guarantee the security of their systems. Most of them do not even update their devices which can open the door to malware of any kind because of missing security patches.

In one year a new general data protection regulation that orders to implement appropriate security measures will apply for every company. According to i7sur7 however, three quater of Belgian companies did not implement any solution to accord with the regulations which keeps them in danger of hackers.
