Outsourcing: Teamwork is the Road to Success

Outsourcing, what does it involve, and is it successful? According to the 2016 IT Outsourcing Study for Belgium and Luxembourg, outsourcing is helping many businesses reach their full potential.

Conducted by Whitelane Research in collaboration with Vlerick Business School, the study looks into companies’ motivations for outsourcing, the efficiency of outsourcing contracts, and the general client satisfaction rate for the BeLux region in regards to outsourcing contracts. Over 500 IT outsourcing contracts held by more than 190 top IT-spending companies in the Belux area were analysed.

Why are companies outsourcing IT services?

Companies want to focus on their core business (as stated by 66%). “Access to resources” is stated by 51% as a motive for outsourcing. Cost reduction is also considered a reason to outsource more, by 45% of respondents.

Is an outsourcing contract worth it?

According to the survey, nearly all investigated contracts are fulfilling their objectives. Outsource providers are scoring well on client satisfaction, considering about 90% of clients are satisfied with their contract.

Outsourcing: just a trend or a necessity for future success?

86% of all interviewed companies state that they will proceed to invest in outsourcing at the same rate or even more in the future. This indicates that the BeLux market for outsourcing still has potential for growth. Moreover, decisions regarding outsourcing are increasingly being made by businessmen instead of by the It-department. Outsourcing is becoming an important part of business strategy.


What can I expect from outsourcing?

According to Carine Peeters, Professor of Strategy at the highly acclaimed Vlerick Business School, outsourcing is teamwork. An outsource contract is rewarding when outsource providers contribute quality services at reasonable prices, are transparent when communicating with clients and adopt a proactive approach to business opportunities. Clients, in turn, are expected to invest in strategic planning and management.

Only together can outsource providers and clients guarantee a fruitful collaboration. Clients are able to focus on their core business while providers focus on all non-core business related activity. In short, outsourcing is a time- and energy saving advantage that guarantees added value for your company in a rapidly evolving market.
